manager.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"tip-3-dont-micromanage\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tip #3: Don\u2019t micromanage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Micromanagement is <strong>not<\/strong> one of the traits of effective managers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In one of our previous Pumble blog articles, we defined micromanagement as <em>a pattern of management behavior where a manager excessively oversees, controls, and observes the work of their employees.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To avoid micromanagement<\/strong>, just do the opposite of what is stated in the definition:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Give clear instructions<\/strong>,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Be open to any questions<\/strong> or possible modifications,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Let the team members do their job<\/strong>,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Focus on results<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Provide feedback<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Jovanovic agrees that managers can easily fall into the notorious micromanagement trap:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns pro-blockquote of the lack of trust.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>But, is micromanagement warranted when we notice some of our team members aren\u2019t as competent as we thought?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Jovanovic, micromanagement shouldn\u2019t be one of the solutions even then:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns pro-blockquote is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column
