By default, all team members in your workspace have the ability to create both public and private channels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Channel names can have up to 80 characters.<\/p>\n\n\n

  1. Click on the three<\/strong> dots<\/strong> next to a Channel section in the left sidebar <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Choose Create new channel<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Name your channel (channel name can only contain letters, numbers, underscores, hyphens, and must be between 1 and 80 characters long)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Provide a brief description so that other team members would know what the channel is about (not required)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Set the channel as public or private<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Click Create <\/strong>once you’re done<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                What are the rules for channel names?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                Names must be lowercase, with no spaces or periods, and no longer than 80 characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Should I make the channel public or private?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                Anyone in the Workspace can join public channels, and everyone can search their contents. Choose private when the conversation shouldn\u2019t be open to the whole team, and members need to be invited to join.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Is a channel description required?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                No, it\u2019s optional.
