{"id":1413,"date":"2021-10-12T23:33:46","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T21:33:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pumble.com\/help\/?p=1413"},"modified":"2025-12-30T14:13:38","modified_gmt":"2025-12-30T13:13:38","slug":"customized-sidebar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pumble.com\/help\/profile\/profile-settings\/customized-sidebar\/","title":{"rendered":"Customize Sections in Sidebar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"note translation-block\">This feature is only available with <a href=\"https:\/\/pumble.com\/help\/workspace-administration\/pricing\/pumble-subscription-plans-and-extra-features\/\">paid<\/a> subscription plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We all enjoy customizing our workspaces in the office, therefore we wanted to give the opportunity to our Pumble users to customize their online workspaces as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Pumble, you can customize your sidebar with these three options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create custom sections for channels<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Move channels or DMs (direct messages) to custom sections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Customize your whole sidebar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Channel order<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By default, channels are organized in the alphabetic order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a lot of channels, we suggest you to put the channels you are using most frequently to custom sections, for easier navigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To set this up, first create custom sections, and then click on the name of a channel and simply drag it to the section you want that channel to be placed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Custom sections<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Custom sections are used to easily navigate through channels or direct messages. They are created to group similar channels and DMs. These sections are visible only to the user that made the sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a look at a short video, or read the instructions below to latest version of the app<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>To create a custom section:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Click on the <strong>3 dots menu<\/strong> next to the <strong>Channels<\/strong> or <strong>Direct messages <\/strong>section in the sidebar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose <strong>Create new section<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter name of the section<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>This could be useful if you want to create sections for multiple chats with users within one working group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image only channels with the unread messages only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Click on the <strong>3 dots <\/strong>menu next to the <strong>Channels<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Hover over <strong>Show<\/strong> option<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose <strong>Unread only<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image class=\"wp-block-heading\">Moving channels\/DMs to sections<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The easiest way of moving channels or DMs is to drag and drop any conversation to a section in your sidebar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To move a channel\/DM to an existing section: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do the right-click <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hover over <strong>Move channel <\/strong>\/ <strong>Move conversation<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose the section from the dropdown<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Channel \/ conversation moved to the section you chose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Moving channel\/DM to a non existing section:<\/strong> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do the right-click <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hover over <strong>Move channel <\/strong>\/ <strong>Move conversation<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose <strong>Move to new section <\/strong>from the dropdown<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Enter section name in <strong>CREATE NEW SECTION<\/strong> pop-up<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>New section is created and the channel \/ conversation moved there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"tip\">You can follow the same steps when you want to remove a conversation from sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Renaming and deleting sections<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">To rename \/ delete section, simply press a right click button on the section&#8217;s name and choose <strong>Rename<\/strong> \/ <strong>Delete<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">In the new pop-up you can type a new name and then confirm it by clicking on a purple <strong>Rename<\/strong> \/ <strong>Delete <\/strong>button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ordering sections<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The order of sections can be easily changed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve that, click on the section and drag it to the desired spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Use cases<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">For direct messages you can, for example, create a section named <strong>Developers<\/strong>, where you can place your private chats with every user that is a <strong>developer<\/strong>. When you want to chat with some of the developers in private chat, this will help you easily find a specific person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For channels you can, for example, create a section <strong>Planning teams<\/strong> where you can place all the channels that are used for planning activities for your projects.
