class=\"translation-block\">Furthermore, <strong>the costs of living in Greece are not so high, <\/strong>which means you might manage to put some money away, as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Let\u2019s take a look at some of the most common expenses so that you can calculate your costs of living in Greece.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"expense-1-accommodation\" In other words, if you spend 100 kWh monthly, you\u2019ll pay \u20ac19 (~$21.91).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">However, you may spend much more electricity than that, especially if you live with your spouse and children. According to EIA (US Energy Information Administration), an average US household <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/tools\/faqs\/faq.php?id=97&amp;t=3#:~:text=In%202021%2C%20the%20average%20annual,about%20886%20kWh%20per%20month\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">spends around 886 kWh<\/a> per month.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Unfortunately, there are no official statistics regarding electricity consumption by an average European household, but we believe the results would be more or less similar to those in the US.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The situation regarding <strong>heating<\/strong> depends on how long you\u2019ll have your heating on. Residential heating in Greece starts in October and lasts until April, while in some southern provinces, it might end earlier.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">If you use natural gas for heating, expect to spend between 5000 kWh and 7000 kWh per year for an apartment of 50\u33a1.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">According to current <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Natural_gas_price_statistics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">prices for natural gas<\/a> in Greece, it means you\u2019ll have to pay at least \u20ac400 (~$466.68) in total for heating during the coldest winter months (November, December, January, and February).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Water bills<\/strong> also vary depending on how much water you use per month.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">According to statistics, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccw.org.uk\/save-money-and-water\/averagewateruse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">average person spends 145 liters of water<\/a> per day, or around 4\u33a5 per month. class=\"translation-block\">Trolley-buses,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Trams,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Metro, and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Suburban railway.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">If you want to get a monthly or yearly ticket for all means of public transport in Athens, you transport in the second-largest Greek city.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The public transportation in Thessaloniki currently only has a bus network, but it is expected that the Therefore, I hope it will result in a better Internet.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">According to the report about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speedtest.net\/global-index\/greece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fixed broadband internet speed<\/a>, the average upload speed in Greece is just 10.98 Mbps. In comparison, in <a href=\"https:\/\/pumble.com\/learn\/digital-nomad-visa\/spain-digital-nomad-visa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Spain<\/a>, for example, the average upload speed is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.speedtest.net\/global-index\/spain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">188.10 Mbps<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Also, some other reports claim that internet services and digital quality of life in Greece are, in fact, the worst in the EU. Namely, Greece took 29th place in Europe in the <a href=\"https:\/\/surfshark.com\/research\/dql\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Digital Quality of Life Index<\/a> created by Surfshark. Globally, Greece ranked 38th (out of 121 countries).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The creators of the study ranked the countries according to the following categories:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Internet affordability,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Internet quality,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">E-infrastructure,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">E-safety, and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">E-government.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Due to all of the aforementioned data, we recommend purchasing as fast internet as you can, in order to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Avoid any potential problems with your internet connection and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Ensure a good speed that matches your needs.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"drawback-2-bureaucracy-and-corruption\" class=\"wp-block-heading translation-block\">Drawback #2: Bureaucracy and corruption<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">One of the biggest problems in Greece is its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ekathimerini.com\/society\/diaspora\/1236474\/greek-expats-beset-by-bureaucratic-hurdles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bureaucracy<\/a>.
