A #

Also send to channel #

It is an option to reply to a message within a thread and have that reply shared in the channel.

Archived channel #

Archived channel is a channel that hasn’t been used in a while and is therefore put out of use. However, all its files, conversations, users and other data are preserved. Archived channel is inactive, but can be activated again.

Audio message #

Audio Messages is a voice recording in a DM, group DM or channels. You can use them as a more expressive and efficient way to convey messages, particularly in situations where tone and emotion are important or when typing may be inconvenient.

Availability #

Availability in Pumble is indicated by a small dot at the bottom right of your profile picture. According to availability your status can be: Online, Offline, or DnD (Do not disturb mode). Apart from these three, you can also customize your status (e.g. Working on a new task) and set it next to your name in the threads and DMs.

B #

Badge notification indicator #

When you have unread messages, or if you’re mentioned in a channel, you’ll receive a red badge notification on the Pumble icon. A red badge indicates that someone sent you a direct message, or mentioned you in a channel. If notifications are turned off, the channel will be bolded, but grayed out and you’ll see the red badge.

When you receive a new message, you’ll get a banner notification where you can see the details of that activity. In the notification, you’ll be able to see the message, sender and the channel it was posted in.

Blur background #

A feature in Pumble calls that softens or obscures the area behind the participant, to focus attention on the person in the foreground.

Bold formatting style #

Bold is one of the text formatting styles. You can use it to emphasize the text or make is stand out in some way. To format the text in bold, click the Bold button from the text formatting toolbar, or use the shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + b and start typing the text. New text will be bolded out.

Bulleted list #

Bulleted list is one of the text formatting styles used to make a list with bullet points. If you’d like to use it, choose it as one of the formatting styles from the text formatting toolbar.

C #

Channel #

In Channels, your team collaborates by sharing messages, files, polls, etc. Channels can be public, open for every member to join the discussion, or private where members need to be invited.

Channel-specific notifications #

Channel-specific notification is a section in the Pumble app that contains a list of channels which have specific notification settings (different from the default ones, including those that are muted). If you tap on the channel, you can see how you can configure those settings for this channel. You can set channel-specific notifications for every new message, just @mentions or nothing if you don’t want to get any notifications.

Code block formatting style #

Code block is one of the text formatting styles. Use code block style to highlight longer blocks of code. You can format the text in code block by choosing this option, or with a markup by using triple backticks before and after the text you’d like to be in the code block.

Company #

Company in Pumble can be an actual company with Pumble being a tool used for the internal communication. You can name your workspace in Pumble to indicate that it is a tool for internal, company-wide communication.

Custom section #

Custom sections are used to easily navigate through channels and direct messages. By using custom sections, you can group similar channels and DMs. These custom sections are only visible to the user that made the section.

@channel_mention #

@channel_mention is one of the mentions you can use in the Pumble chat. Use it if you’d like to notify all the channel members (active or inactive) of your message.

D #

Deep linking #

Deep links are types of links that send you directly to an app instead of a website or a store. They are used to send users straight to specific in-app locations, saving you the time and energy locating a particular page yourself – significantly improving the user experience.

Default channels #

Default channels are channels that you are a member of, by default. In the Pumble system, these are the #general channel and #random channel.

Desktop notification #

Desktop notifications include all the notifications you receive on your desktop. These are all the notifications for the unread messages: banner notification, or a badge notification indicator. These are both available in the browser and desktop versions of Pumble.

Direct message #

You can message and share files with anyone in the workspace using the direct messaging option. Those messages are private between you and the other participant and no one else can see them.

Direct messages are used for conversations that don’t require the whole channel to participate in. Direct messages include only conversations between two participants (team members).

DND (Do not disturb) #

If you’d like some uninterrupted time to focus on important work, or to switch off while away from work, set the DND (do not disturb) mode in Pumble. This way, you’re pausing Notifications in Pumble. Pausing notifications when needed is a good way to help you stay concentrated, or even set a notification schedule for specific times you’d like not to be disturbed.

Edit message #

Edit Message option allows you to modify and make changes to previously sent messages, providing the ability to correct errors, update information, or improve clarity even after the message has been posted.

Emoji reactions #

Emoji reactions are one of the ways you can respond to a message in Pumble. They’re fun and helpful and, at the same time, great for getting the work done. One simple reaction can replace the need for any additional follow-up messages. You can add as many reactions as you want and there is no limit to how many reactions you can add to the message.
All the reactions you created will be highlighted in blue.

F #

File history #

File history represents all the files in one workspace that are sent, received, or posted by any user. You can search through the file history in the search bar at the top of the screen.

Follow thread #

Thread is a running commentary on a specific message. If there is a thread you haven’t engaged in and you’d like to follow, you can do that by hovering over the thread and clicking on Follow thread and stay up to date and informed of all the changes.

Format messages #

By formatting messages in Pumble you’re stylistically modifying the text according to its purpose and the function it has. This way, you can emphasize important information, add detail, or clarify what’s been communicated.

Group messages #

Group messages include conversations outside channels that can involve up to seven people (team members).

Guest #

Guest is a user role available in the Pumble app. Guest has a limited access to specific channels, files and history.

#general channel is one of the default channels in Pumble. We recommend using this channel to post important announcements that all team members need to see.

Help #

Clicking on a question mark icon at the top right corner of the interface provides you with the following Help options: Documentation (help articles), Tutorials (step-by-step guides), Contact (contact support), and Submit Feedback (reporting issues and suggestions).

Help center #

Help center is a part of Pumble’s documentation available on Pumble’s website. Its purpose is to help you navigate through the website more easily.

History #

History refers to a clock icon located at the top of the interface. Clicking on this icon enables you to select and jump to recently visited channels, direct messages (DMs), or DM groups, while the adjacent navigation arrows allow for easy backward and forward movement within the browsing history.

HTTP request #

HTTP request is a request sent by the client to the host (server) in order to access the resource on the server (get the information from the server). To make the request, client uses components of the URL which includes the information needed to access the source.

@here_mention #

@here_mention is one of the message mentions you can use in the Pumble chat. Use it if you’d like to notify all active channel members of your message.

I #

Information icon #

By clicking on the Information icon, users can see some additional information about certain entity in the application.

Integration #

Integration in Pumble is the system integration which stands for a process of combining parts of the two systems together, making sure that these two systems function as one. This way, users are provided with more features and options while using the app.

Italic formatting style #

Italic is one of the text formatting styles available in Pumble. To format the text in italics, click the italics button in the toolbar, or use the shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + i and start typing the text. The typed text will be italicized.

L #

Link preview in Pumble indicates that the workspace members are able to see the preview of the web page that one member shared with others in the workspace. Link preview can be turned on or off according to your preferences.

M #

Magic link is a type of passwordless login that works as a one-time-use link sent to the user during the authentication process. Magic link allows you to log into an account by clicking a link that’s emailed to you, rather than typing in your username and password. After entering your username, you will receive a URL, either to your email address (the email address that you provided), or your mobile phone via text. The user clicks to authenticate themselves without entering a password.

Markup language #

Markup language is a text-encoding system that consists of a set of symbols inserted in a text document to control its structure, formatting, or the relationship between its parts. Markup is often used to control the display of the document, or enrich its content.

Meeting links are links to Pumble calls that can be created, copied and shared among Workspace members.

Member aka user/workspace member #

Member is a user role available in the Pumble app. Member can send messages and files to any team member in their workspace.

Mention #

Mention in Pumble is a way of notifying single member, or all the members of an important announcement. There are 4 types of mentions in Pumble: workspace member (e.g. @Ann Morrison), channel members (e.g. @channel), active channel members (e.g. @here) and user groups (e.g. @marketing team).

Message (chat) history #

Message history is used to search the chat history for a specific message or channel. It contains all your messages and/or threads posted in the channel and/or exchanged with another user or group of users.

Mobile notifications #

Mobile notifications are notifications that you receive on your mobile device. There are two types of mobile devices that we support: iOS and Android. On both devices you can see a preview of the unread messages you received in the notifications. You can also turn this preview on and off according to your preferences. If you’d like to receive notifications on your mobile device, download the Pumble app to your mobile phone and tablet and sign in to your workspace.

Multi-channel guest #

Multi-channel guest can be added to the unlimited number of private or public channels. However, those can only be channels specified by you.

Muted channel #

Muted channel is a channel that is active, but is made silent. This way, you won’t receive any new notifications on it. You can mute any channel you are a member of. Apart from muting channels, you can also mute specific conversations. Also, keep in mind that the muted channel allows you to read new messages whenever you want, and not just when you’re notified of a new one.

Message box #

Message box is a message field in which you type and send messages as DMs, group messages or as posts in channels.

Notification #

Notification keeps you notified of the following types of messages in Pumble: DMs (Direct Messages), Channel mentions @user_name and @user_group, @channel and @here for the channel you’re a member of, or a message in thread.

O #

Ordered list #

Ordered list is one of the text formatting styles. With the ordered list, you can use numbers and letters that can go up to four levels deep. You can make the ordered list by clicking on the formatting button, or typing 1 with period and hitting space.

P #

People & user groups #

People and User Groups in the Pumble app refer to a section located in the sidebar where all users and user groups are listed.

Permission #

With permissions, you can adjust workspace-wide settings and preferences in the workspace administration.

Pin (messages, files, items) #

You can pin important messages to any conversation for an easy reference. See pinned items in the Details section and all the members within the channel or direct message can access that information. You can pin your messages to add them into the Pinned section within the conversation, or pin any files by pinning the message in which the file was shared. Click the information icon (i) and expand the pinned section to see all pinned items.

Preferences #

Preferences is a section in Pumble that helps you customize the conversations that will be displayed in the sidebar.

Private channel #

Channel is a single place used by team members to communicate with each other and share files. Private channel requires an invitation to join and is used for conversations that shouldn’t be available to all team members.

Profile #

Your profile in Pumble can help others better understand who you are and what you do in the company. By default, all profiles in Pumble contain user’s name, profile picture, job description or title and phone number.

Pro subscription plan #

Pro plan is one of the subscription plans available in Pumble. Unlike the Free plan, Pro plan allows you to create customizable sections, screen sharing, user groups, guest access, manage user accounts, permissions, larger file storage capacity and the customer support priority.

Public channel #

Channel is a single place for team of users used to communicate with each other and share files. All team members can join public channel and everything posted there can be searched by anyone.

Pumble #

Pumble is a free chat app that allows teams of all sizes to collaborate. Unlike other chat apps, it offers: Unlimited users, unlimited chat history, user and workspace administration tools and 24/7 web support. It is available on all platforms, primarily as a web app, but can also be used as a desktop and mobile app.

Pumblebot #

Bots are automated software applications programmed (built) to perform certain tasks. Pumblebot is a built-in bot in Pumble.

Pumble desktop app #

Pumble desktop app is available to download it to your personal desktop computer.

Pumble web app #

Pumble web app is a Pumble app available through the browser.

Q #

Quick jump #

Quick Jump is an easy way to move in Pumble without leaving your keyboard. By simply pressing (Ctrl/Cmd + k) you can quickly switch between direct messages (DMs), group DMs, and channels.

Quote block formatting style #

Quote block formatting style is one of the text formatting styles. With the quote block, you can mark the difference between the direct quotes and the rest of the text. You can use it to give a shout out to someone, or be specific about a piece of information that was shared with you. You can choose this option from the toolbar, or by using a markup by typing angled brackets before and after the text you’d like to be in the quote block.

R #

#random channel #

#random channel is one of the default channels you automatically have access to when you join the Pumble workspace. We recommend using this channel to post messages that are mainly informal and for random stuff that are generally not related to work.

Reminder #

You can set a reminder about a message you’d like to get back to later on. Reminder can also be helpful if you receive a lot of messages on a daily basis and find it challenging to reply to all of them. These can be messages you received in the DM, channel, or those you sent to yourself.

Reply #

Reply in the Pumble system is a reply you get to the message whether it is a DM, thread, or a channel post.

Saved items #

By using the save icon, you can add specific messages to your Saved Items, creating a readily accessible collection. Simply click on Saved Items in the sidebar to access your saved messages. This feature simplifies information management, providing a valuable tool for organizing and preserving essential content within the app.

Scheduled messages #

Messages composed in advance and set to be automatically sent at a designated future time.

In the Search bar you can search the workspace for the team’s conversation history, or the chat history for a specific message, file, people and channel.

Sections #

Sections in the Pumble app provide a means of organizing channels based on specific categories or themes.

Shortcut #

Refers to the keyboard shortcut which is a key, or combination of keys, that provide a way of performing certain actions you would typically perform by mouse.

Sidebar helps you navigate through the workspace. It also displays new notifications and the conversations you engage in.

If you have unread messages in a channel, channel name will be bolded in your sidebar. Also, if you’re mentioned in one of the channels you’re a member of, you’ll see a numbered badge next to the channel name.

Single-channel guest #

Single-channel guest can only be a member of one channel (private or public). Single channel guest seats are free. You can get 5 single channel guests for every paid user. For example, if you have 10 members, you can invite up to 50 single-channel guests.

Status #

Status indicates if you’re available or not, or what you’re working on. It can help your Teammates see what you’re up to if they can’t reach you.

Strikethrough formatting style #

Strikethrough is one of the text formatting styles. You can use it for types of texts that are outdated or deprecated in some way. To use the strikethrough, click the button in the toolbar and start typing the text, or use the shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + X and the text will be crossed out.

T #

Team #

All members in your workspace make up your Team. Team member can send messages and files to any Team member that is part of that same workspace.

Team Member (also team mate/workspace member) #

(Team) member is a user role available in the Pumble app. Member can send messages and files to any team member in their workspace (see member).

Thread #

Thread is a commentary on a specific message. By replying in thread to a specific message, you’re keeping your messages in order. By using threads, you can easily discuss any topic in detail without having to add clutter to the main conversation. This way, you can track multiple discussions more easily.

Three dots icon #

A three dots icon contains a menu with key actions for that part of the Pumble app.

Tips & updates #

Tips & Updates is a section located at the top right corner of the interface. This section serves as a source of helpful news and information provided by Pumble. You can expect to find relevant tips, announcements, feature updates, and other valuable insights displayed there.

Troubleshooting #

Troubleshooting is a form of problem solving often applied to repair failed products and processes that are often used to find correct issues with complex devices, products, and computer programs.

U #

Unfollow thread #

Thread is a running commentary on a specific message. If you were engaged in a threaded message in any way and you no longer want to be a part of it, you can unfollow the thread. This way, you won’t be receiving any new notifications about the thread you’ve unfollowed.

Unread #

Unread in Pumble refers to the unread message you get notified of in the sidebar on the left.

Use case #

Use case is a specific case in which a feature can be used when performing an action.

User group #

You can create a user group and add relevant team members so as to notify everyone at once by mentioning the group. You can also set default channels for group members and add multiple users to channels via groups.

@user_mention #

@user_mention is one of the mentions you can use in the Pumble chat. Use it if you’d like to mention a specific user in a direct message in a channel.

User seat #

A seat in Pumble is a paid subscription needed for each user in a paid plan Workspace. It’s required for all users on paid plan, except for single-channel guests.

V #

Verification code #

Verification code is used for security reasons to authenticate the user and as a layer of protection. It is a four-digit PIN code sent to user’s email address to verify their identity.

(Incoming) Webhooks #

Webhooks are user-defined HTTP callbacks (or small code snippets) triggered by specific events. They make the communication between the two systems possible. When the trigger event occurs in the source site, webhook sees the event, collects data, sends it to the URL specified by the user in the form of an HTTP request.

Widget #

Widget is an element that is a part of a graphical user interface (GUI). It can display information or provide a specific way of performing certain actions.

Workspace #

Pumble workspace is a virtual space made up of Channels where you can communicate and collaborate with team members by chatting in channels and direct messaging.

Workspace admin #

Workspace admin is a user role available in Pumble. They are assigned by the workspace owner and can help manage the app.

Workspace owner #

Workspace owner is a user role available in Pumble. They can create the workspace and set all the permissions related to the created workspace. Each workspace can have only one owner.

Workspace settings #

Workspace Settings in the Pumble app allow administrators to customize and adjust workspace-wide settings and preferences that apply to all members of the Workspace.

Zapier #

Zapier allows end users to integrate web applications they use and automate workflows.

Zoom integration #

Integrating Zoom with Pumble via webhooks provides a way of posting messages from Zoom into Pumble. Webhooks make this type of communication between the two systems possible.
