Pumble’s native commands are designed to empower workspace users with practical tools to simplify their communication processes. In this article, we’ll explore the core functionalities of Pumble through its native commands, providing you with the technical know-how to make the most out of your interactions.

For example if you’re leading a project and need to gather your team for a kickoff meeting. With Pumble’s native commands, you can effortlessly facilitate this process while maintaining clarity and efficiency.

Create Meeting links to start calls and connect with anyone in your workspace. To create a meeting link using native commands:

  1. Navigate to the DM or channel where you wish to initiate the meeting
  2. Type /meet in the message editor
  3. Press Enter to complete the action

A new meeting link will be instantly generated for you to use.

If your workspace is on a free subscription plan, you’ll get a message informing you that an upgrade of the workspace subscription is required in order to use meeting links.

Set your status #

Keep your team informed about your availability by setting your custom status. To set a status using Pumble native commands:

  1. Type /status [status_name][period_of_time] in the message editor of any channel/DM
  2. Press Enter to update your status, providing insight into your availability or current focus

To turn on a DND mode:

  1. Type /status [status_name] dnd [period of time] in the message editor of any channel/DM
  2.  Press Enter to update your status with DND mode, providing insight into your availability or current focus

To remove your status:

  1. Type /clear-status in the message editor 
  2. Press Enter to remove your status

Status must be between 1 and 128 characters in length.

Add people to channels #

The process of adding members to channels is simplified with Pumble native commands. To invite people to channels:

  1. Navigate to the channel
  2. Type /invite @user_name in the message editor
  3. Press Enter to complete the action

This action will send an invitation to the specified user to join the channel.

To invite user groups:

  1. Navigate to the channel
  2. Type /invite @user-group_name in the message editor
  3. Press Enter to complete the action

This action will send an invitation to all the user group members to join the channel.

Set yourself a message reminder #

If you receive a lot of messages on regular basis and find it challenging to reply to all of them, set reminders about the messages you’d like to get back to later on

  1. Type /postpone [period of time] in the message editor of a channel/DM or a particular thread
  2. Press Enter to complete the action

You will receive a message reminder for the last message of the given channel/DM/ thread.

Display action text #

Inject personality and clarity into your messages by using action text to highlight important points or action items during the meeting. To display action text:

  1. Navigate to the channel/DM
  2. Type /me [text] in the message editor
  3. Press enter to complete the action

The text you provide will be formatted in italic.

Shrug text #

To convey a sense of ambiguity or uncertainty, use shrug text. To add a shrug your text:

  1. Navigate to the channel/DM
  2. Enter /shrug [text] in the message editor
  3. Press enter to complete the action

A shrug will be inserted next to the text you provide.
