You can then start a timer to track your time or copy events as separate time entries.

Clockify offers detailed time reports and gives you comprehensive insights into how your time is spent. It’s a great tool to boost productivity and better manage your time.

Setting up a Clockify account and connecting with Google Calendar was very simple. I found it very interesting to look into the reports Clockify generates — where I spend most of my time and what I’m working on.

Checker Plus is a tool designed to help you with your calendar management and make scheduling easier and faster.

You can:

  • Create events,
  • Set reminders, and
  • Easily view your calendar from any tab.

The biggest advantage — you can do all of this without having to constantly navigate to your Google Calendar.

The app also sends customizable reminders and notifications to keep you updated on upcoming events.

Although the design of the settings page is somewhat outdated and bare, the customizable options make up for it.

There are many options to customize the notifications, buttons, themes, and admin options.

The customization is a big plus, as it lets you tailor your experience to your preferences.

However, a significant downside for Checker Plus is that many features are accessible only if you pay.

Hide morning: Declutter your calendar

Isn’t it annoying having the early morning hours visible on your calendar for no reason? For me, it is.

Thankfully, the Hide morning extension for your Google Calendar lets you hide that block of time and make your calendar less cluttered. It lets you choose when your day begins visually and creates a cleaner look for your calendar.

This extension is simple and hassle-free. You simply click the toggle button and scroll down to hide whichever hours you don’t need to see in your calendar.

The biggest pro of the Hide morning plugin is its simplicity, making it challenging to find any significant drawbacks due to its straightforward design.

However, unfortunately, the extension may soon be removed from the Chrome Web Store due to new regulations for Chrome extensions. If the creators don’t update the app to meet these requirements, it will no longer be available.

Key features:

  • Toggle hours — Quickly hide or display blocks of time.
  • Custom start times — Define when your visual day begins.
  • Minimalistic interface — Works seamlessly with your existing calendar layout.

Pros:

  • Simple and lightweight design.
  • No unnecessary features; easy to use.

Cons:

  • May be removed from the Chrome Web Store.

An interesting feature for us visual creatures is the ability to change the color of the weekends. I changed mine to a calming green color. This gives you a clean look and helps you visually and mentally separate the work week from the weekend.

However, I encountered a few lags while testing out this extension. For example, when I tried changing the background color for the weekends, I had to reload the page two times before it displayed the changes.

Key features:

  • Color coding — Assign unique colors to weekends or busy days.
  • Expanding overlapping events — You can easily view more details about events that overlap.
  • Clean view enhancements — Display more events per day in the calendar view.

Pros:

  • Highly customizable.
  • Completely free.

Cons:

  • I experienced an occasional lag when using multiple features.

Smart Calendar Event Plus: Create events with a click

This handy add-on lets you create events and add them to your calendar based on selected text

You simply highlight the text that contains the meeting details and right-click to add the event to your calendar.

For example, you can select text from a Pumble message and the extension will create an event from the information.

Create an event from a Pumble message

It can extract date, time, and location information from the selected text.

However, this plugin does have its downsides. The functionality could be better if the app allowed for more customization and options. Currently, the only option you have is the date format configuration.

One helpful option would be a default start of the day. Sometimes, the time of the event can be ambiguous and the app reads it incorrectly. For instance, if the text reads “I’ll call you at 4.”, the app can read it as 4 a.m. instead of 4 p.m.

Additionally, this extension is currently facing a problem with Chrome’s new regulations for extensions, and if the creators of the extension don’t fix the issue, it may be removed from the Chrome Web Store.

Key features:

  • Text recognition — Extract dates, times, and locations from highlighted text.
  • Quick event creation — Add events with a right-click menu.

Pros:

  • Easy setup.
  • Easy to use.

Cons:

  • Lacks advanced customization options.
  • Occasional misinterpretation of ambiguous times.

Web (Chrome extension).

Clockwise: Optimize your schedule

Clockwise is an AI-powered calendar management app that helps you optimize your time. It integrates with your Google Calendar and frees up your time by changing your schedules to improve time management.

For example, I marked one of my meetings for the week as flexible. Clockwise then suggested a few options for better scheduling.

Options for rescheduling a meeting with Clockwise
Options for rescheduling a meeting with Clockwise

Clockwise was easy to install and integrate with my calendar and using it is fairly simple.

However, Clockwise offers limited features in its free plan, so, for example, all of the team productivity features that could be useful for teams are not available for free. Also, many of the security and support features are only available for paid plans.

The paid plans start at $6.75 per user per month. Although the price isn’t exorbitant at first glance, it can quickly add up for bigger teams.

Another downside of Clockwise is that it only supports work accounts, so you can’t use it to manage your personal calendar.

Key features:

  • Focus time — Block dedicated time for deep work.
  • Flexible scheduling — Automatically reschedule meetings to optimize your day.
  • Team syncing — Align schedules across teams effortlessly.

Pros:

  • Intelligent time management.
  • Creates focus blocks.
  • Intuitive interface.

Cons:

  • Only supports work accounts.
  • Limited free features.
  • Some functionality requires using the Clockwise app outside the calendar.

Available for:

Web (Chrome extension).

Pricing:

Free for basic plan; Paid plans start at $6.75 per user/month.

Disable Month Scroll: Stop accidentally scrolling through the calendar

If you’ve ever accidentally touched the scroller on your mouse or swiped across your touchpad while in Google Calendar, you know how annoying it is to have your calendar suddenly transport you months into the future.

True to its name, the purpose of this extension is to stop you from accidentally scrolling through months while navigating your calendar. It’s a simple, yet amazing way to level up your Google Calendar experience.

This extension is as straightforward as it gets. You simply download the extension, refresh your Google Calendar, and you’ll never again end up accidentally scrolling to next year, even though you were just in your January 2025 calendar.

This plugin stands out from the rest with similar functionality — it doesn’t interfere with scrolling up and down in the week or schedule view. It only disables the month scroll, while other plugins often break the scrolling option in other calendar views.

Key features:

  • Scroll lock — Prevents unintended navigation to other months.
  • Focused view — Keeps week and day views unaffected.

Pros:

  • Simple and effective.
  • Doesn’t interfere with other scrolling functions.

Cons:

  • No significant cons.

Available for:

Web (Chrome extension).

Pricing:

Free.

Button for Google Calendar: Easily see your schedule

Button is a Google Calendar extension that lets you view and manage your upcoming schedule from any tab

You can see your future events and schedule new ones. Button also has a notification system to alert you of upcoming events. It supports Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Skype, letting you quickly jump on a call through the toolbar.

Setting up Button was a breeze. I connected it to my Google Calendar in seconds and was able to start testing it right away. The design of the add-on is simple and I found it useful to have my upcoming events so easily accessible.

However, a drawback of Button is that the banner ad in the quick view cannot be removed. It minimally affects the functionality of the app, but it clashes with the overall design and draws attention away from the events below.

The lackluster customization options are another downside for Button.

  • Integrated notifications — Receive reminders and alerts.
  • Video conferencing — Join meetings directly from the toolbar.
